Hola, my name is Lizet. I'm a native Angeleno, bilingual Spanish speaker, and mother of 2 chiquitos. The idea for Chiqui Social came from my own desire to ensure my kids were exposed to Spanish and culture at an early age in fun and inviting ways. Growing up in LA with Mexican parents, I heard Spanish everywhere — at home, at the grocery store, and on the playground. I didn't realize not everyone spoke Spanish until I started kindergarten at the age of 5.
When it was time to put my kids into a more structured learning environment, I knew I wanted culture and Spanish to be at the core. As a second-generation household, I was all too aware that I needed additional support outside the home to ensure we remained a dual-language household. Surprisingly, I found limited options for families trying to incorporate Spanish into their kids’ everyday lives. During this search, I saw a need for quality Spanish language options in early childhood education and beyond.

I started to put my ideas together, asking other parents if they were also in need of this service and talking to as many experts in the field of early childhood education and dual language learning as I could. I also went back to school to get my certifications in ECE. Finally, the time came to leave an esteemed 15-year career in publishing, to make this vision a reality.
CHIQUI SOCIAL is a heartfelt blend of all things that inspire me, kids, culture, the Spanish language, and community. I hope you’ll join us, collaborate with us and call this your home as we aim to raise culturally aware global citizens together.
